DC work is different from the suburbs. A rowhouse front yard might be twelve feet deep. The back is reached from an alley. There is a tree box at the curb the city cares about. We have done this long enough to know where the water line comes in and how to trench a small yard without wrecking it.
Drip for the front beds, a couple of spray heads for whatever grass there is, and a controller mounted where you can reach it. In the detached neighborhoods, Chevy Chase DC, Cleveland Park, Palisades, the lots are bigger and the job looks more like Bethesda.
Step lights on the stoop, a fixture or two on the facade, and something for the back patio. Low voltage keeps it off the neighbour's front window three feet away. Uplighting a big tree in a Northwest yard is a different job and one we like doing.
